Product Review, The Gluten Free Bar

I decided to add this product review to my blog because quite frankly I was not sure under what product review category it should go.  You see these bars are truly versatile and I have been eating them for breakfast but I have also had them for dessert and snacks.  So there really is never a situation when these will not work.

My friends at the Gluten Free Bar were kind enough to send me samples of their peanut butter and chocolate peanut butter flavored bars.  Now, many of you already know I am a huge fan of portable gluten-free snacks that I can just toss into my bag and hit the road with – so these bars were already ahead.

Let’s face it, there are a lot of gluten-free bars on the market so I was not sure how the Gluten Free Bar would differ.  Well, let me tell you it is really a standout in the cluttered landscape.  The first thing you notice when you bit into the bar is the crunch.  While the bar itself is wonderfully soft – it has a terrific crunch factor that really adds a whole new dimension to the taste experience.  The peanut flavored what really quite good with rich peanut flavor but not too overpowering.  You can still taste the complex nuttiness of the flax seeds that is perfectly complimented by the subtle sweetness of the brown rice syrup and agave nectar – not to mention it has one of my favorite ingredients – dates.

The chocolate peanut flavor is pretty much the same base with the addition of semi-sweet chocolate chips.  Being a complete chocoholic, I did enjoy the hint of chocolate in this flavor.  Again, because it was semi-sweet it played so well off the other flavors without being sugary sweet.  Not only are the bars gluten-free but also dairy-, wheat-, and casein-free, all natural,  low glycemic, a good source of Omega-3, and vegan.  No matter what you are looking for (or not looking for) from a dietary or nutritional standpoint, the Gluten Free Bar accommodates a range of restrictions and preferences.

So if you are looking for a portable, healthy alternative to throw and go (as I like to refer to it), check out the Gluten Free Bar.  You can find them in select retailers or order directly from the source and have them shipped to your door.

    Hi Mike
We found these bars to be not so good.Although they looked good and the size and price were good the overall consensus was not very favorable. We found the bars to be somewhat dry with alot of after-taste.I had our celiac group try them and the reactions were all about the same.

Thanks for commenting Deb. I always find things like this are a matter of personal taste. There are some GF products other people just love and I just don’t see what they do.

I am a huge fan of dates and peanut butter which is likely why I enjoyed these so much. I didn’t experience any aftertaste and my bars were not the least bit dry but thanks for adding a different take and feedback. I have no stake or relationship with any of the products I review so I am happy to (and welcome) fellow Celiacs views.

Thanks again for taking the time to comment,
    Mike
