I have to admit that I am a self-proclaimed junk food junkie at times. Since my Celiac diagnosis I have probably most missed the crunchy goodness that is a hard salted pretzel. Now there are a few brands out there and fear not, I will cover them all eventually, but today I’d like to offer my comments on Glutino’s GF Salted Pretzels.
Glutino’s offering are really quite good and indistinguishable from their non-gluten counterparts. Just the right amount of salt perfectly compliments the savory pretzels. The texture is spot on (which as we know is not always the case with GF products) and I have rolled these out when entertaining my non-Celiac friends and they were non the wiser. Try dipping these in a thick vegetable or onion dip (recipes to soon follow in our Recipe section) or a little spicy Dijon mustard — Delish!
You can increasingly find these at major supermarkets and I have seen them on the shelves here in New York, on the West coast, and down South. You can also often find them at specialty retailers and of course online at one of the many GF sites out there.
And remember, if you don’t see something in your local grocery, talk to the manager. You will be surprised at how accommodating they can be. GF options are often at much higher price points than their non-gluten counterparts so it is a win-win for consumers and grocers.
