One of my go-to restaurants when visiting family and friends in Bermuda is Café Lido at the Elbow Beach Hotel. It is a gluten-free favorite of mine that never disappoints. The dining room overlooks the beach which is beautifully lit in the evening allowing for diners to watch the waves roll-in against the shore.
Café Lido offers a complete gluten-free menu that always has a range of options to satisfy whatever you might be in the mood for. On my most recent visit the meal started with an amuse-bouche of wonderfully rich cream of broccoli soup that was absolutely delicious.
For my starter, I selected the beet and green bean salad that was crowned with a rich ricotta. The beets were perfectly seasoned and the additional of the green beans added a bit of texture and flavor that paired perfectly with the earthiness of the beets.
When I saw that the gluten-free pasta option was topped with a short rib ragout I immediately knew what I would be having. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the short rib sauce was perfectly seasoned and a bit different than I am typically used to utilizing small cubes of short rib vs. a stewed down version – this gave it a bit more dimension and texture. By the time dessert arrived I was quite full as the portions are always quite large I decided to share a slice of their gluten-free flourless cake with a friend.
